Dental Implant System
A dental implant system basically refers to the brand name, or manufacturer of dental implants. These implants are meant to replace missing teeth. The implant is actually a post, made from titanium, that is placed directly into bone of your mouth. A false tooth, called a dental implant crown, is placed on the post and is held securely. This makes it possible for a patient to replace a tooth without anyone being the wiser, and allows the patient to eat, chew and talk normally.
The dental implant system that Dr Padolsky uses is the Nobel Biocare system. Think of this as the Ferrari of implant systems. Alfred Nobel, the man who invented dynamite and established the Nobel prize in his last will and testament, established a Swedish defense company called of Bofors in 1894. In the 1950s, when a professor by the name of Branemark came up with the idea of dental implants, he did so with this company.
Dr. Per-Ingvar Branemark, a native of Sweden designed the first dental implant system. In the 1950's he discovered that living tissue did a better job of integrating with a titanium dental implant than it did with other materials he had used, such as stainless steel. He called this Osseointegration and allowed for further breakthroughs in the medical field. Dr. Branemark then designed the first system, which, is the system Dr. Padolsky now utilizes.
Dr. Padolsky uses this dental implant system for all his dental implant surgery. He is also skilled at designing, creating, and placing the crown that goes on top. This allows for one dentist to be in control of both phases of the procedure. This also allows the patient to visit only one office for all their care, taking some of the hassle out of the procedure for the patient.
