          Implants, or dental implants, are meant to replace missing teeth. It is vitally important to replace a missing tooth. The absence of one tooth can actually cause an opposing tooth to loosen and come free, which in turn can do the same to another tooth, and so on. The implant uses a titanium post that acts like the root of a tooth. This is topped off with a dental implant crown that looks much like a natural crown and in fact well made ones can be quite difficult to identify as fake. This replacement tooth will actually function and chew much like a real tooth, those who are missing teeth will know how much of a problem this can be.

          Implants in the front of the mouth can be difficult to create since it can be seen when smiling. The crown will look like a real tooth, but the problem lies in hiding the point where the post and the crown meet. In many cases it will look completely unnatural. To avoid this it is best to have one dentist do the whole procedure. Dental implant failure is not common, in fact, around 98 percent of all implants work without problem. Dental infection and outright failure can be a problems, bust since the success rate is so high there is little risk.

          Getting dental implants is a fairly straight forward process. It begins with a diagnosis done by a trained implant dentist. This will involve x-rays and pictures of your mouth that allow your dental implant dentist to fully analyze case and plan out the procedure. Your dentist may decide that bone augmentation is needed in some cases to help secure the implant. A titanium dental implant in the form of a post is then set into the bone. The crown, or fake tooth, is then placed on the implant, securing it directly to the bone.
