Tooth Implants

tooth implants

Tooth implants can be used to replace one or all of a patient's teeth. The Atlanta Dental Group PC provides both dental implant surgery and restoration services. The surgical placement is performed by Atlanta Implant Dentist, Dr. Mark Allan Padolsky who enjoys working with dental implants and has placing and restoring them since 1988.

During the surgery, the dental implant is screwed into a special site prepared in the bone. This is done using local anesthesia and takes about a half hour to an hour per procedure. Precise holes, called an osteotomies, are prepared in the areas of the mouth where there is adequate bone. Tooth implants that exactly match the osteotomies are next screwed all the way into the prepared spaces. They are next covered with gum tissue so that they can integrate quietly with the surrounding bone.

After the surgical placement, we wait six to twelve months for a patient's bone to grow onto and around their new tooth implants. At the end of this period the tops are exposed and implant posts placed into them. An impression is taken and a dental implant crown or a dental implant bridge is constructed at the dental laboratory. The final restorations are then placed the same way that normal restorations are done. Patients visit our office to look good, for a beautiful smile and to be able to easily chew their food. This is why the final dental restoration ot the implants is extremely important.

A subperiosteal sits on top of the jaw bone. It does not require a lot of bone because it does not go into the bone. Placing subperiosteals takes two surgery appointments, one to take the impression of the bone and the second to place the subperiosteal on the bone. Unfortunately, most dental insurance companies do not cover the placement of tooth implants so the Atlanta Dental Group PC has established contacts with several finance companies so that patients desiring dental care can get it.
