Dental Implant Dentures

An implant supported denture is the most secure type of denture that you can get and it is also the best option for your oral health. Dental implants are small devices made of titanium that are surgically implanted in the bone of your mouth. Think of the implants as the foundation for sky scrapers. The implant provides a secure foundation for dental restorations like crowns or dentures. If you need to replace a denture or need to get a denture this is a great option.

Many people with dentures have problems with a denture becoming loose and falling out, particularly when eating. To remedy this they use denture adhesive but unfortunately this is often just a cover up for a poor fitting denture. Other types of dentures like soft dentures try to address the issue of loose dentures but none do it so well as a implant supported denture. This is the most secure option for dentures.

Not only is an implant supported denture better for a more stable denture but it is also better for your oral health. Dental implants prevent bone loss that can weaken the jaw and make you look older than your actual age. Dental implants act like the roots of teeth and provide and incredibly secure foundation for the denture. The one big downside to a dentures supported by traditional dental implants is the cost. Several implants are needed and it can become quite expensive. Then a new denture must be made to work with the implants.

Mini-dental implants are a great option for those who want an implant supported denture but shy away at the cost of getting multiple traditional dental implants to secure a single denture. Mini dental implants are cheaper because surgery is far easier than with standard implants. Mini implants work more like screws and can be placed far faster. Mini implants can also be loaded immediately  which means that the denture can be worn right away. With standard implants a temporary denture must be worn for several weeks. Mini implants also allow old dentures to be retro-fitted to work with the new implants.
