An avulsed tooth is a fancy term for a tooth that has been knocked out of its socket. This can be a disturbing accident but, if you know what to do, it can be possible to save the tooth.        If you or your child has an avulsed tooth stay calm. First off, find the tooth. This can sometimes be difficult but be patient. When you find the tooth make sure not to pick it up by the roots, pick it up by the crown of the tooth, the part you normally see in your mouth. Rinse it quickly with water and put it in a container of milk then see a dentist immediately. After it is reimplanted you will want to keep regular check ups with your dentist because the tooth could become infected, develop and abscess or root resorption could occur.
