A baby first tooth can come out and create problems for everyone along the way. Not every child has problems with teething, but many do. Those that do have problems with the process seem to have a great deal of problem with it. A baby will often cry quite loudly, but that is not all. There is still some debate as to whether or not problems like vomiting, diarrhea, congestion, fever and rashes on the body can be attributed to side effects of teething but the more common symptoms can seem just as problematic at times.
A baby first tooth can cause your child to be irritable and fussy, often at all times of the day and night, because it can cause problems sleeping. It will almost definitely cause drooling, which, in turn can cause a facial rash. Other problems include gum swelling and gum sensitivity, a tendency to bite or refuse food. These problems are generally more pronounced with the first few teeth. Something you can do to ease the pain is give the baby something to chew on or massage the gums.
A baby first tooth will generally appear around the age of 6 months and almost always by the child's first birthday. In some rare cases a baby can actually be born with a tooth already there. The first baby tooth is most often an incisor a the front of the mouth, normally the lower one. The last of the 20 baby teeth will come in by the age of three. They begin falling out around the age of 6 to be replaced by the adult teeth.
