Increase the temperature slowly and continue to add bicarbonate of soda while it's still dissolving. Adding the bicarbonate slowly saturates the water with this base. When the bicarbonate falls to the bottom and doesn't dissolve, the water is saturated. Turn the heat off and let the water cool. You can add Cool Aid or Crytal Lite to give it some color and taste. Swishing with the solution immediately after vomiting neutralizes stomach acids.

The shields can be placed in the mouth before vomiting and theyt protect the teeth from the harmful effects on the teeth from stomach acids.
