The term Cosmetic
dentistry bonding usually refers to
the upper front teeth six teeth. These teeth are in the aesthetic
zone of the mouth. In other words, they can easily be seen in
a patient's smile and most patients really care about how these
teeth look. Making color or contour mistakes in the aesthetic
zone of the mouth is a really bad advertisement for any cosmetic dentist. These are
the teeth that show in the patient's smile! A beautiful smile
looks natural, not man made.
Cosmetic dentistry bonding uses tooth colored composite
resin filling material to do things such as repairing
a fractured tooth or
closing a gap between two teeth. The dental composite resin can
also be used to laminate or veneer natural teeth to create immediate
changes instead going through the longer process of doing porcelain veneers. Some
cosmetic dentists use composite to create temporary veneers to
see if their patients like the new smile changes that the dentist
has planned. This allows the patient to have an aesthetic trial
period before the final porcelain veneers are made. Cosmetic
Dentistry has a lot to offer patients!
Cosmetic dentistry bonding can be used all by itself or in conjunction with other
cosmetic dental work.
For example, two porcelain veneers can be placed on the two front
teeth and composite resin can be used to cover or modify the smaller
lateral teeth next to them. If you plan on having your tooth whitening, it's best
to do your composites after the whitening process. In some patients,
the teeth can get much whiter while leaving the composites at
the same old color.
Cosmetic Dentistry bonding has changed because the area of dental materials has undergone a revolution. New techniques and materials allow a layering of different white filling materials to create a more lifelike appearance. Translucent materials are now available to give a more natural look to the edges of teeth and tints are available for mimic small natural looking variations inside teeth.
