dental crown bridge

A dental crown bridge is a type of device used to replace missing teeth. It utilizes a false tooth known as a pontic in between two dental crowns that acts as anchors, making what is essentially a dental bridge between the two teeth. Using a bridge to replace a tooth allows a dentist to restore some of the functionality to a mouth while also preventing future orthodontic problems caused by the teeth on either side of the missing tooth moving inwards to fill the space.

Depending on what kind of tooth is missing you may need a different type of dental crown bridge. The traditional fixed bridge works best on the molars at the rear of the mouth because the greatest amount of stress is placed on these teeth. A resin bonded bridge or a cantilever bridge can be used for your front teeth, where less stress is placed on the teeth.

If you have recently lost a tooth either to accident or by a dental extraction, it is a good idea to replace the tooth with a dental crown bridge as soon as possible. Other options for replacing missing teeth are dental implants and partial dentures. Every solution has advantages and disadvantages, but not replacing the missing tooth creates situations with only disadvantages.
