Our Atlanta implant dentist, Dr. Mark Allan Padolsky, attended the first official dental implant course ever. This was the 1987 MCG/AAID Maxi-Course offered at the Medical College of Georgia. The American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) decided to offer a course with all of the newest developments in dental implant information and technology and so it teamed up with the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) to create the ultimate continuing education course in dental implants.
The dental implant course is important because the technology behind dental implants is growing everyday and a dentist must be kept up to date on the new procedures and advancements in order to keep up. A dental implant is a device used to replace a tooth, or possible even several teeth or a whole arch. The dental implant is surgically placed in the bone where a tooth is missing. Then a dental crown is made and connected to the implant via a dental implant post. This replaces a tooth better than other methods such as a dental bridge or partial dentures.
Dr. Padolsky has taken this dental implant course twice, the first one in 1987 and then again in 2002. He decided to take the course gain because he felt that there had been a large number of serious advancements in the technology behind dental implants and wanted to keep up to date with the newest treatments. He has a great deal of experience in dental implant surgery and is well versed in newer methods like mini-dental implants and the creation of implant dentures.
