dental toothache

A dental toothache comes from a tooth that is hurting. The pain can start as hot and cold sensitivity and get worse to the point where it is terrible enough to keep a patient up all night. Obviously, it is much better to attend to any dental pain as soon as it starts so it doesn't get worse. In most cases, It is also a lot cheaper to take care of a small dental problem.

Dental pain from hot and cold or sweets is usually considered a minor dental toothache. Very often all that is needed is to replace an older dental filling or construct a tooth grinding appliance. If the pain is sudden while biting and then immediately goes away, it may come from a cracked tooth. If caught early, a cracked tooth can have a dental crown made to bind the crack together. However, if left unattended, the crack can grown and extend into the dental nerve. The result is that the tooth can die and need a root canal or removal.

As the pain gets stronger and longer, the dental toothache becomes more serious. Pain that lasts longer than a minute and/or keeps someone up all night is often root canal toothache. These patients often need root canal therapy, a build up and crown. In some cases, the tooth decay is so extensive that the tooth can not be saved and has to be removed.
