Dry Mouth Treatment first involves finding the cause of dry mouth. Once found, a correct plan of treatment can be made.Until you find out the exact cause, you can reduce the symptoms many ways. These are:
Take
small sips of water continually through out the day.
Suck
on ice chips.
Sucking
on sugarless candies helps your body produce saliva.
Purchase
artificial saliva from the drug store or consider using biotene
products.
Avoid
mouthwashes containing alcohol ( alcohol dries the mouth )
Avoid
sticky and dry foods.
Avoid
tobacco and caffeinated products.
Use
extra butter, gravy, and sauces to moisten food to aid in chewing
and taste.
Brush
your teeth more than three times a day with an antiplacque fluoride
toothpaste.
If you have xerostomia and have recently had pneumonia, bronchitis or ear problems, you should seek the advice of a physician in addition to a dentist.
