False Teeth

false teeth

False teeth is a term generally used to describe full dentures. The term can also be used to describe partial dentures or a dental restoration like a crown or bridge. Where once dental restorations like these looked fake and often affected your speech and eating capabilities, modern dental technology has transformed them into fully functional and truly realistic pieces of work. On the other hand, they will never be as good as your real teeth, however, if an accident occurs, there is often little choice but to have a restoration made.

Complete dentures are a full set of false teeth. These are only used when all of the natural, permanent teeth are gone. While they do allow the patient to eat and speak they do have some drawbacks. Traditional dentures are removable and that means you cannot apply full chewing force when eating. New advances in dental technology like soft dentures aid restore a little bit of this capacity but the true revelation is implant supported dentures. These use dental implants to securely and permanently lock the dentures in place with in the mouth.

Partial dentures use several false teeth to replace only a few missing teeth. Again, there are several types of partials, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. A dental crown is a kind of false tooth that is placed on an living tooth that needed serious restoration but could still be saved. These are essential parts of root canal therapy. A dental bridge uses a false crown called a pontic between two true crowns. This can replace a single missing tooth and uses the two adjacent teeth as anchors.
