Applying topical anaesthetic ointment to the area to be numbed for three to five minutes before doing the injection significantly reduces the pain of the needle and many patients do not even feel anything. He doesn't rush and uses a slow injection technique since most of the pain that a patient experiences is due to rapidly injecting and blowing up the gums too fast with anaesthetic liquid.

          This gentle Atlanta dentist uses another dental technique to increase a patient's comfort and to help provide comfortable dentistry, this is to wait five minutes or more to let the novocaine take full effect. Although the novocaine manufacturer claims that you can work right away, many patients achieve a deeper anaesthesia after the novocaine thoroughly sinks through the tissues.
