With herbal medicine becoming more popular a herbal toothache remedy is a much sought after alternative to traditional toothache medication. But that is not to say that there is anything wrong with these medicines. First it is necessary to state that there is a difference between a cure or remedy and pain relief. Finding a remedy for the pain is not the same thing as finding a remedy for the toothache. Remedying the pain provides a temporary relief from the pain but the cause of the toothache must be found and fixed for the toothache itself to be truly remedied.
A very popular herbal toothache remedy is oil of cloves. Clove oil toothache relief has been around for centuries and can prove to be quite effective. Not only does it address the pain but it has some properties that help fight the cause of the toothache. It has significant antibacterial, antiseptic properties and even works as an analgesic and a weak anaesthetic. When clove oil is dried the cloves carry oil of eugenol, which is a powerful antiseptic. If placed in a cotton ball that is in turn placed on the problematic tooth relief can last for around an hour.
Another herbal toothache remedy is peppermint, Mentha Piperita. While this sounds somewhat odd it actually has anti-inflammatory compounds that can provide relief from toothache pain. Drink about 5 grams of fresh peppermint that has been boiled in a cup of water with a pinch of salt. Spilanthes Oleracea is known as the Toothache plant because of how powerful it is. Also known as Brazil Cress and Para Cress, this plant can do a great deal to numb the pain of a toothache.
