Invisalign Retainer

Invisalign retainer

An Invisalign retainer fits and looks like a regular aligner, however, it's much more durable and lasts longer. In fact, it's about five times more durable than commercially available thermoplastic retainers. It has to be strong because it is meant to last a long time unlike a normal aligner which is changed every two weeks.

The is designed to stabilize and hold a patient's teeth in place so that the beautiful smile the patient paid for stays in place. There is some elasticity of the material so it pops on and stays comfortably in place. Just like the normal aligners, other people can't see your appliances since they are invisible. If they are lost, it is very important to immediately replace them to avoid the teeth from shifting around.

An Invisalign retainer retains. The word retain means to hold something in place. Unfortunately, some patients believe that it can move their teeth. It can't. It retains. The appliance has to be cleaned to avoid staining. Like with all orthodontics, the dentists at the Atlanta Dental Group PC recommend that our patients wear their retainer full time 24/7 for one year and at night after the first year. Teeth move and change with age just like your face. You can't expect for the teeth to stay in place without wearing your retainers.

The dentists at the Atlanta Dental Group PC make an Invisalign retainer for every patient after completion of an Invisalign case. New appliances can be constructed for patients who have lost their retainers. Dr. Padolsky has been doing orthodontics for over 25 years and is an Invisalign dentist. He would be more than happy to speak with you to talk about straightening your teeth. Please call 404-874-7428 to schedule your orthodontic consultation.
