jaw tooth pain

Jaw tooth pain is often a generalized pain. The dental pain caused by one tooth often spreads out into a dull ache throughout your whole jaw rather than feeling like pain localized around the actual source. Tooth pain can be caused by a number of reasons, the most common being a cavity, inflamed tooth, dental abscess, fractured tooth or gum disease. While it may seem odd that a problem with the gums can affect the teeth, it must be remembered that the mouth must work in balance. Receding gums, caused by gum disease, can expose the roots of the tooth, making them extremely sensitive.

Jaw tooth pain caused by any of the previously mentioned factors can be easily diagnosed with a thorough dental examination. An xray picture will show where a cavity lies and the extent of the damage. An tooth abscess is a type of infection that causes a build up fluid at the tip of the root which creates pressure in the mouth. A dead tooth can be extremely painful and it is likely that there was pain in the area before since a tooth does not die quickly. What caused the tooth to die was probably causing pain before. An accident can cause a fractured tooth that can be extremely painful

Jaw tooth pain can also be caused by problems outside your mouth. TMJ disorder can create a general and sometimes intense jaw pain, although it tends to be localized around the ear. Sinus problems, like a sinus infection, can also create pain in the mouth. Even your heart can cause a toothache. Angina often causes pain in the jaw that may be the only symptom of the problem. If you have a pain in your mouth, it is best to see a doctor as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the worse the problem can get and the treatment will become more involved and most likely, more expensive.
