This causes a mismatch between the shape of your gums and the shape of the dentures. It can usually be fixed with a dentures reline that a dentures dentist can often do chairside.

Wearing ill fitting dentures for too long may create difficulties eating food even when using denture adhesive. They can also cause severe irritation, which can lead to infections of the underlying gums. This constant irritation could allow bacterial invasion into the body and result in subsequent health problems. It is also well known that inflamed and irritated tissues can become prone to developing oral cancer.
