New Dentures

new dentures

New dentures should be made every five years or less. Most denture wearers are on a fixed budget and try to over extend the life of their old dentures. However, this can lead to serious problems. As the old dentures wear down, the face collapses. Not only does this create a face full of lines but it can lead to ringing in the ears and neck problems.

New dentures should almost always be made a bit longer than the old dentures to replace the lost material worn away from years of chewing. Unfortunately, most dental schools do not teach this and each time a patient gets another set of dentures, the patient's face shortens more. By the time the patient gets to age 70, the patient's face looks terrible and the patient has a lot of related problems.

New dentures are in investment not an expense. They are necessary to keep your body healthy and to insure that your face is well supported as you age. If your shoes wear down, you throw them away. Keeping old dentures too long is the same sort of thing. The gum and bone tissues underneath the old denture also change with time and the fit gets looser.

The dentists at the Atlanta Dental Group PC are dedicated to their patients' good health and well being. You are welcome to join our family of patients. They offer new dentures of several types: temporary dentures, implant supported dentures, over dentures, mini implant dentures and more.
