Porcelin Veneers

porcelin veneers

Porcelin Veneers are used to cover unsightly teeth. They can change the length, shape, color and arrangement of someone's smile or of just one tooth. The technology of tooth bonding allowed the development of this technique. A thin porcelain wafer is artistically constructed in a dental laboratory from an impression of the patient's teeth.

To make porcelin veneers, a skilled laboratory technician, called a ceramist, carefully combines several different types of porcelains. Regular tooth colored porcelain can be combined with special translucent porcelain to give the dental restoration depth and opaque porcelain underneath to cover up ugly stains below.

Creating beautiful porcelin veneers is not a painful experience and often takes only two short visits. Most cosmetic dentists combine this procedure with other cosmetic dental procedures such as tooth bleaching, reshaping and gum contouring. When used skillfully together a cosmetic dentist can create a natural looking beautiful smile for most patients.
