The root canal pic to the left shows an entry hole though the top of the crown into the pulp chamber and then into the two tooth roots. Each of the roots has one canal in it. The pulp chamber above and the two canals are completely cleaned out. The roots are surrounded by bone and there is a red cover of gums over the bone and going around the tooth.
This root canal pic shows the two roots filled with a green colored material. The green color is used here only to show where the canals are and how they are filled. Notice that the two canals are completely filled from the pulp chamber all the way down to the ends of the two roots. This is essential for successful endodontic treatment.

The root canal pic to the left shows a blue build up placed into the pulp chamber to seal off this root canal. This is a molar tooth with a large crown in which a build up can be placed. Teeth in the front of the mouth are too small to allow for a strong build up so they must have posts instead. The build up is done to strengthen the top of the tooth and prepare it to support a dental crown.
