Single Tooth Implant
A single tooth implant is meant to replace one missing tooth. It uses a titanium dental implant in place of a root, an implant post and a dental implant crown. The crown can often look so much like a regular tooth that it may be difficult to determine which crown is the artificial one and which it natural. The replacement tooth will function and chew much like a real tooth. It is important to always replace a missing tooth since the absence of one tooth can eventually cause significant and harmful changes in the bite from undesired shifting of the surrounding teeth.
Getting a single tooth implant is a fairly straight forward process. It begins with a diagnosis done by an implant dentist. In some cases, the implant dentist may decide that bone augmentation is needed to help secure the dental implants. A titanium dental implant is placed in the bone and allowed to heal. An implant post is next screwed into the implant and a crown is placed on the implant post. In some cases several teeth may be required to be replaced. If the missing teeth are in a row, a dental implant bridge is an option rather than replacing each tooth individually.
It
is difficult to place a single
tooth implant in the front of the mouth
where it can be seen when the patient smiles. The crown will look
like a real tooth, but the problem lies in hiding the point where
the implant post and the crown meet. In some cases the restoration
can look completely unnatural. For this reason, dental implants
placed in the area of the smile should be carefully planned. Dr
Padolsky is not limited to one dental
implant system and uses several including the Nobel Biocare
and IMTEC Endure systems for dental
implant surgery.
Dr. Padolsky
has been doing single
tooth implant procedures since 1987.
He also designs, creates, and places the crown that goes on top.
This allows for one dentist to be in control of both phases of
the procedure which helps simplify the decision making process.
This allows the patient to visit only one office for all their
care. The dentists at the Atlanta Dental Group PC are dedicated
to their patients' good health and well being. You are welcome
