tmj dentistry

TMJ Dentistry is primarily involved with helping a temporomandibular joint dysfunction patient get out of pain. In this disorder, the jaw joints are forced into bad positions which then causes a muscular reaction to protect the joints. This can result in headaches, neck aches, ringing in the ears, ear pain, sore teeth, sore muscles, pain in the jaw joints, clicking, popping and a lot more. These patients are often in terrible pain.

TMJ Dentistry often is required to address problems that normal Dentistry does not address. Many temporomandibular joint dysfunction patients also have medical conditions that complicate their problems. If left undiagnosed, their pain will often continue even if the dentist did a good job.

Although TMJ Dentistry is not Medicine, many dentists do have to use diagnostic skills to help their patients identify associated medical conditions such as Thyroid Dysfunction, Mitral Valve Prolapse, Fibromyalgia, Allergies, Sleep Apnea among others. A TMJ dentist has to be able to work with physicians and medical specialists to help guide patients in the right direction of care.

Dr. Mark Allan Padolsky, our senior TMJ dentist, and all of the dentists at the Atlanta Dental Group PC are dedicated to their patients' good health and well being. You are welcome to join our family of patients. It is important for patients with TMD to seek the advice and care of a knowledgeable dentist. Dr. P enjoys TMJ Dentistry and enjoys treating patients with temporomandibular joint dysfunction and has been doing so since 1982. If you wish to consult with Dr. Padolsky, call 404-874-7428.
