TMJ Specialist

           The American Dental Association does not recognize TMJ treatment as a special limited area of Dentistry so there is no dental recognized TMJ specialist. However, many dentists take a special interest in this area of tempormandibular joint disorders. Dr. Mark Padolsky has cared for patients with TMJ disorder since 1982. He has taught TMJ courses for dentists at both the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and the University of Pittsburg School of Dentistry. Because of his extensive background, Dr. Padolsky can perform both the initial and final phases of TMJ treatment and is comfortable working with other dentists and physicians in a team approach to treating shared patients.

          In 1990 this TMJ specialist received Fellowship in the Atlanta Craniomandibular (TMJ) Society. The Society was dedicated to the multi disciplinary study of Temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Dr. P is also a past president of this society and served as Vice President and General Meeting Chairman in 1989. In September 2000, Dr. Padolsky again earned a Fellowship in the American Orthodontic Society. He was also given an Achievement Award by the AOS for his extensive participation in continuing education related to orthodontics. It is quite obvious that this dentist is dedicated to lifelong learning.

          Dr. Padolsky graduated from the Emory University School of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) Degree in 1982. At that time there were no TMJ specialist courses taught at the school. A visiting professor and pioneer in the field, Dr. Weldon Bell, gave a three day lecture series on temporomandibular joint disorders which Dr.Padolsky attended. After that exposure Dr. P has been interested in the subject and treating patients with TMD. As a matter of fact, he is passionate about helping all of his patients.
