Proper tooth and gum care are essential when it comes to oral hygiene and preventing serious oral health problems. It is important to make the distinction between tooth and gum care. Gum care is often overlooked when it comes to oral hygiene, most people focus merely on brushing their teeth. But improper gum care can lead to gum disease, which can cause an ugly receding gum line or even tooth loss. Proper care must be given to the whole mouth.
Tooth
and gum problems are most often caused
by improper care. Plaque will build up on the teeth and eventually
become tartar (calculus). This build up can cause cavities or
periodontal disease, not
to mention bad breath ( halitosis
). A cavity could cause a tooth to need a root
canal or be psooible even be extracted. Gum disease can slowly
destroy a mouth by causing a receding
gum or tooth loss. As you can see, one small problem can cause
a number of other problems that build up exponentially.
Tooth and gum
care is vital to oral health, which in turn can affect overall
health. When brushing it is best to use a medium bristle brush.
You do not need to brush hard, just properly. Use short strokes
that cover 2-3 teeth at a time using a slightly circular motion.
Makes sure to brush your tongue and the roof or your mouth. When
brushing your gums it is best to brush lightly along the gum line.
Flossing is essential to goof oral care. Slide the gently between
the teeth and then up the sides for the teeth on both sides so
as to dislodge and build up. These techniques will keep your mouth
in tip top condition.
