Tooth replacement is required after tooth extraction because when a tooth is removed the rest of the teeth can move and shift out of place. Although more expensive initially, in the long run, they are cheaper because they do not have to be redone every seven years like a dental bridge.

               When a patient can't afford tooth replacement with a dental bridge or dental implant, a removable partial denture is an option. This restoration is made to fix around and hook onto the existing teeth. The partial uses clasps to stay in place. The major disadvantage to a removable partial is that is involves all of the healthy teeth and can promote tooth decay and periodontal disease. The periodontal problems occur from the constant shaking of the teeth holding the partial in place.
