Toothache Treatment

toothache treatment

The most common toothache treatment is a root canal for a dead tooth. It's strange that a dead tooth can cause so much dental pain, but the inflammation and tooth infection surrounding the tooth root can be devastating. A molar tooth can have two or more roots with two to four canals. In some cases, one or two of the nerves is dead and the others are alive. It like being buried with someone who is dead. After a month it would be unbearable.

Occasionally a dental nerve will become exposed because of a cracked filling or fractured tooth. The only toothache treatment involved in these cases is replacement of a tooth filling or construction of a dental crown. If the crack is bad and goes into the nerve, a root canal has to be done. If the crack is really bad and goes all the way through the tooth, a dental extraction may have to be done.

Regardless of the type of toothache treatment that you need, it is almost always best for you to see an emergency dentist as soon as possible. A dental problem tends to grow and nowadays with antibiotic resistant infections appearing, treating small dental infections can be much easier than when they grow and get out of control. It is becoming more and more common for dental patients to be hospitalized to control aggressive dental infections.
