The
type of dentures you need depends on your individual and specific case.
Immediate dentures
or temporary dentures
are placed in the patients mouth only as interim dentures,
until the patient heals and a final properly made set is complete.
These are generally cheap dentures
and not of made of the best materials because of the necessary
speed in making them. Making dentures is an art and it takes some
time to make really nice ones that look great and chew well. The
time involved increases the cost of the final product.
The
type of dentures that is most common is complete
dentures. Complete dentures replace all the teeth and
surrounding tissue. They are generally done all at once and a
patient will begin wearing them immediately after healing. Partial Dentures are dentures
that replace only a few teeth in between other natural teeth.
They fit around the existing teeth. Implant
supported dentures are supported by dental implants.
Another type of dentures is are upper dentures, which replace only the upper teeth. There are also lower dentures that replace only the lower teeth. Over dentures are a kind of mix of complete and partial dentures. They replace most of the teeth in the arch but use some natural teeth as anchors for the plates. Mini implant dentures use a new type of dental implant to help prevent the denture from moving around.
