A Valplast partial is a type of removable partial denture without metal framework. Actually Valplast is the name brand of a manufacturer of the special acrylic that forms the denture. What Valplast does is eliminate the need for the metal framework that can be so unsightly. If you are missing a few teeth it is important to have something done as soon a possible. These changes to your mouth will create other undesirable shifts in your teeth, making more treatment necessary later on.
A Valplast partial is made of a special pink acrylic that blends in with the natural color of your gums almost perfectly. The Valplast material is extremely difficult to break, so the dentures can be made quite thin, so it is more comfortable. The acrylic forms the base of the denture as well as the clasps that keep it secure within the mouth. The acrylic is even somewhat elastic, meaning, it can bend, and that means it will last longer than typical partials than need a dentures reline every so often. On the downside, partials made of Valplast cannot be relined, they need to be rebased, which requires more work.
A Flexite partial is another name brand competitor to the Valplast partial. All -in-all they are pretty much the same. As good as these flexible framework partials are, they do have a few disadvantages. Sore spots created by the dentures are more difficult to fix. If any repairs are needed they may require more work than with metal framework partials. Also it is generally more expensive to a Valplast denture partial than to a traditional partial. Despite these weaknesses Valplast offers an excellent alternative for those who do not want traditional partial dentures.
