Vicodin

information from the  Atlanta Dental Group PC

Vicodin is used in Dentistry for the relief of moderate pain after oral surgery or root canal procedures or to assist patients with the dental pain associated with a dental infection while their antibiotics take effect. It can also be used to help manage dental and facial pain after trauma.

Vicodin is a strong Class 3 prescription narcotic analgesic that contains hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen. It's responsible for more prescription drug addictions than any other medication in the United States. Patients can become physically and/or psychologically dependent on it and like all narcotics, addicted individuals usually suffer with withdrawal symptoms if it's use is suddenly stopped. Patients who are addicted desperately crave this drug and with time, need larger and large doses to reduce the craving.

The most common side effects of Vicodin are nausea, constipation, vomiting, dizziness, light-headedness and/or sedation. Taking the medication with food often relieves nausea. It should not be combined with alcohol, antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, pain relievers, anxiety medicines, seizure medicines, and muscle relaxants.

Vicodin is Abbot laboratory's brand name. However, it can be dispensed in generic form as hydrocodone and acetaminophen. The dentists at the Atlanta Dental Group PC are dedicated to their patients' good health and well being. You are welcome to join our family of patients. After many dental procedures and when appropriate, we do prescribe this medication. For your appointment with Atlanta dentist, Dr. Padolsky, call 404-874-7428
