The wisdom tooth picture to the left shows an impacted wisdom tooth to the far left. The bony cover has been carefully removed to reveal the roots of the molar teeth. Notice that the wisdom tooth is below the other molars. Notice the bone surrounding the roots of the teeth and the crown of the third molar.
This wisdom tooth picture shows three very flattened molar teeth. The wisdom
tooth shown on the far left is also flattened. The teeth all have
calculus attached to their surfaces. Flat teeth such as these
are very common in countries where people eat mostly unprocessed
foods. It is also common with older patients who suffer with tooth grinding.
The wisdom
tooth picture shows all the teeth in
the maxillary arch. The wisdom teeth are the one at the very bottom.
They are also called third molars since they are the last of the
three molar teeth to erupt into the mouth. Since they are the
farthest teeth back in the mouth, the wisdom teeth are usually
difficult to clean and tend to have many problems.
